PADI AWARE FOUNDATION
Since Project AWARE’s inception in 1989, PADI has been a critical partner to the foundation, directly supporting the advancement of underwater citizen science, ocean education and marine policy change.
PADI and the AWARE Foundation developed the Blueprint for Ocean Action to accelerate the conservation targets that support the global agenda to protect 30% of the ocean by 2030. Together we work to expand and build new conservation programs and educational, fins on and fins off courses that tackle key ocean threats including: coral reef restoration, climate change, marine pollution, marine habitat loss and vulnerable species protection.
Blancpain
With our founding partner of the Blueprint for Ocean Action, Swiss prestige watchmaker, Blancpain, we aim to fundamentally increase the number of marine protected areas (MPAs) and support local dive communities around the globe through the AWARE Communtiy Grant Program.
At the heart of the partnership is the flagship citizen science program, Adopt the Blue™, the largest network of marine protected areas on the planet that will enable millions of PADI recreational divers to proactively engage in marine conservation with PADI Dive Shops, Resorts and Instructors committed to creating a more resilient ocean.
Reef-World Foundation
PADI and the Reef-World Foundation joined forces to promote sustainable diving practices for the protection of the marine environment and reduce threats to one of the world’s most valuable ecosystems: coral reefs.
Our shared vision is to make sustainable diving and snorkeling the social norm, achieving this through the implementation of the Green Fins initiative – in partnership with the UN Environment Programme.
SEIKO
As a proud sponsor of the marine debris program, Seiko will further the impact of the important work of the flagship citizen-science program, Dive Against Debris®, that not only removes debris but, perhaps more importantly, leverages findings to inform ocean-friendly policy change to prevent further pollution from entering the ocean. Together, Seiko, PADI, PADI AWARE Foundation and the global dive community will provide critical survey data that can be used by marine researchers and policymakers for conservation efforts.
Mission Blue
PADI has forged an alliance with Mission Blue with the goal to increase the level of protection of the ocean.
Led by legendary oceanographer Dr. Sylvia Earle, Mission Blue inspires action to explore and protect the ocean by building public support for the creation of Hope Spots — special places that are vital to the health of the ocean.
