Who We Are

PADI AWARE Foundation is a global nonprofit, powered by the world’s largest network of divers, dive professionals, and marine advocates. With three registered charities worldwide, we connect local action with global impact to protect the ocean.

As the conservation partner of PADI®, we harness the strength of the dive community to address the ocean’s most urgent threats - driving meaningful change through marine policy advocacy, citizen science, and direct conservation efforts. Together, we are working to restore the ocean’s health and achieve a future where humanity and the ocean thrive in balance.

Project AWARE Foundation: 1989

Ons avontuur voor de bescherming van de mariene wereld begon eind jaren 80 als een door PADI geïnitieerd project. De missie van Project A.W.A.R.E bij oprichting was om mensen bewust te maken van het belang van de bescherming van de waterwereld te beschermen, en van de verantwoordelijkheid die we daarbij hebben.

Project AWARE: 1992

Met enorme steun van de duikgemeenschap werd de Project AWARE Foundation in 1992 geregistreerd als een onafhankelijke 501(c)3 non-profit organisatie in de V.S. In 1999 werd de stichting een liefdadigheidsinstelling in het Verenigd Koninkrijk. En in 2002 kreeg het de formele non-profit status in Australië.

PADI AWARE Foundation: 2021

De PADI AWARE Foundation werd opgericht als juridische entiteit van PADI waarmee 30 jaar partnerschap verder wordt versterkt. Samen werken we aan het mobiliseren van de PADI-gemeenschap van fakkeldragers voor de zee. En we dragen als collectief de AWARE-missie verder uit om lokale actie te stimuleren voor het behoud van de zeeën wereldwijd.

Over 80% of the Foundation’s revenue funds AWARE programs, a guarantee that your organization contributes to conservation actions and outcomes.

Funding the Future

Since 2022, the PADI AWARE® Community Grant Program has powered impactful, locally led conservation initiatives around the world. The program funds PADI Dive Centers, non-profits, and community groups tackling urgent ocean challenges-like climate change, marine debris, habitat loss, and species protection.

These grants are a driving force behind the PADI Blueprint for Ocean Action , created in partnership with Blancpain, to protect and restore ocean health.
