STEP 1
PADI eLearning

Knowledge development is the first step and requirement for a recreational Open Water Diver certification. PADI eLearning® is an independent study option that lets you read, watch videos, and take quizzes at your own pace, providing the fundamentals you need to confidently advance to in-water training with your Instructor.

When you begin your eLearning, you will choose your PADI Dive Shop for in-water training.

Time: 5-10 hours on average
eLearning Cost: $230 USD when purchased here, or contact your local dive shop where prices may vary

STEP 2
In-Water Training

Confined In-Water Practice (pool-like environment)
During this step, you will practice your dive skills and learn how to use your scuba gear with a PADI Professional on “mini-dives” in a pool or pool-like environment to help you build your confidence and feel more comfortable before you begin your open water training.

Time: 2-3 days on average
Cost: Contact your local dive shop for training and scuba rental fees which are in addition to your elearning purchase

Start e-learning open water training with PADI.
STEP 3
Open Water Training

With your PADI Professional dive instructor you will complete four dives in open water up to 18m/60 ft. for this final step in your recreational Open Water Diver certification.

Time: 2-3 days on average
