Becca C. (Open Water Diver) Does not recommend Bonneville SeaBase
Aug 2, 2022
We were told that visibility was good, at a max of 3 feet. Water was murky and green, with lots of algae. I ended up with an ear infection after the dive.
The 'safety brief' we got for going into the Abyss was to watch your step it's slippery, if you fall fall forward into the water. They need to either add in a rail, scrub the scum off the steps, or preferably both. There was a handrail into one of the other ponds that was completely corroded from several support points.
The fish were super friendly, and were rather large. They will swim up to you and eat out of your hands.
Overall, would not recommend unless you're looking for an open water place to work on your low visibility navigational skills.
