In 1955, the tug was acquired by the Moran Towing Company of New York, New York, where she was renamed Martha Moran. In 1978, she was acquired by the Crosby Towboat Company of Boston, Massachusetts, where she was renamed back to Dauntless.

In 1989, the tug was acquired by the C and M Towing Company of New York, New York, and retained her name. In 2005, she went out of documentation. She was sunk intentionally as part of the NYS DEC reef program. She sits in 126 fsw off the Shinnecock inlet at the 12 Mile Reef
