The Echinger Weiher is located north of Munich near Eching in the Freising district. The quarry lake, which was created during the construction of the motorway in 1965, is a dream destination for divers because of its relatively clear water, lush vegetation, rich fish population and excellent opportunities for diving training. Thanks to its underground spring, it does not freeze over in winter and can be dived in all year round. The visibility is usually very good. There is an alien, an Ikea shopping trolley and a Roman helmet to admire. Because it is constantly fed with cold, clear groundwater, the water temperature is fairly constant all year round. In summer it rarely rises above 12-13°C and even on the surface it is usually below 20°C. In winter, however, it rarely falls below 7-8°C, which means that the lake remains ice-free and can be dived in all year round.
