This diving shop was established by Sonoda Makoto (currently the chairman of Umi Lecture Course), who has served as chairman of the Yaeyama Diving Association for about 40 years in Kabira Bay, one of Ishigaki Island's most scenic spots.
He is known as a pioneer in Ishigaki Island's diving industry, having discovered Manta Scramble, a manta ray gathering spot that has become synonymous with diving on Ishigaki Island.
