Details

In May 1997 Timotheos Karmiris (called Timo for short) founded Diving Center Turtle Beach. In January 2000 Jrgen Schierholz of ""Tauchen und Reisen"" joined in. Since 2001 Jrgen has been in charge of sales and marketing and since 2004 he has also been joint owner. In 2003 a new, extremely quiet and powerful compressor was purchased. Every year a large part of the equipment is replaced. The diving base is located directly at the beach of Limni Keriou . It consists of a compressor and equipment room as well as the reception with coffee und frapp bar (where water, coffee, tea and of course frapp are available free of charge).

Great importance is attached to safety in the diving base. When checking in, a certificate of diving fitness, brevet and logbook must be presented. A check dive will be effected.

The 12 m long and 4 m wide diving boat is the pride and joy of the base. It is approved for 40 persons. But the diving base only allows 24 divers at most, so that comfort is ensured on the boat. The boat is equipped with 30 scuba tank supports, diving platform with two ladders, sufficient place for the boxes, a cabin for things which must not get wet, toilet and 500 l fresh water. The safety equipment comprises satellite broadcasting, first aid box, oxygen, life raft, and life belts.

Diving courses according to CMAS (up to gold) and PADI (up to Divemaster) are offered. You can book individual training or training in very small groups, in German, English, Dutch, Italian or Greek.

During the dives, the children (from 3 years on) will be taken care of at the diving base or on the boat directly. The favourable position of the diving base directly on the beach is of great advantage.

One of the attractions of the island is the turtle Caretta caretta which has come for millions of years to the two islands just off Limni Keriou for depositing its eggs. With good luck it can be watched during the dive. This also applies to the rare seal species Monachus monachus which lives at the southwest coast of Zakynthos .
