The Sundhäuser See is right next to the diving center. The lake is known for its particularly clear water and is about 60 hectares in size and a maximum depth of 31 m. There are very nice, varied bottom formations that are sometimes a bit confusing and wonderful vegetation that can reach depths of 20m. In some places, seagrass meadows and other aquatic plants spread over the lake bed.
The first swarms of perch are already swimming at a depth of two meters. Large mirror and silver carp, pike, eel, rudd, zander, greenfinch, lead, crayfish and catfish are also very common.
The Sundhäuser See has 4 diving points. All entrances are provided with stairs directly into the lake. Meanwhile, four wrecks of different sizes have been sunk. Experienced wreck diving can be perfected here and beginners can be trained.
Underwater city of Nordhusia
Parts of the old former imperial city of Nordhausen were reconstructed on land and rebuilt in the Sundhäuser See at a depth of 10 - 12 m. With its church, houses, city wall, tower and cemetery, this underwater city is unique in Germany and attracts thousands of divers to the lake every year.
